for Bedminster Township Committee

The Bedminster Democrats are proud to endorse the candidacy of Uttara Patla to run for the Bedminster Township Committee in the 2021 municipal election. She will be joined in this effort by Giuseppe Zaccagnini. We feel strongly that Uttara will bring a great voice for us Democrats on the all-Republican Committee.

Uttara Patla is running to be a part of a coalition that cares about the future of Bedminster. Unwilling to stay on the sidelines anymore, she is eager to give back to the community where she spent the last 22 years raising two children as a working mother juggling the rigor and demands of both worlds. Along the way, she is grateful for the support she received from many members of the community, which made it easier for her to achieve balance.

Uttara’s commitment to serving others is embodied by her volunteer work with both the Bedminster Township School District, Bernards High School, and the Matheny School. Recently, Uttara raised donations from the community for the Somerset Hills Instrumental Music Programs and helped her daughter’s Girl Scout troop build a memorial garden for the Matheny School.

Uttara is a communications professional who has worked across several sectors: pharmaceutical, high-tech, and financial services industries. She currently leads the communications function for the individual life insurance unit at Prudential Financial. Each job that she has held throughout her career has taught her the value of respecting colleagues and consumers, collaborating with her team, and seeking diverse input; these attributes have been part and parcel of her professional success. In addition to her communications, creative, and analytical skills, Uttara possesses strong interpersonal skills, having led multiple teams directly and indirectly.

Uttara and her husband Venkat, who served on the Bedminster School Board from 2010-2011, live in the Autumn Ridge section of The Hills. They have two daughters in college. Uttara completed her Master's degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1997. She also has a Master's degree in Communications and Journalism from the University of Hyderabad, India.
